Vacation time!

Planning to go on vacation this summer? While you're out of town and away from your computer, your friends, family, and business contacts will still be emailing you. If others don't realize that you're not going to be checking your email, they may keep sending you messages and your mailbox may go over quota.

There are a few options to try to avoid an over quota mailbox while you're away on vacation. You could use StarTraveler to dial-up to Covenant ISP remotely and check your email. Or, using any computer with an Internet connection, you could check your email through Webmail. However, since most beaches and campgrounds aren't equipped with computers, and most people don't take their computers with them on vacation, these options won't be for everybody. The best solution would be to setup a vacation message, or auto-responder, before you leave.

A vacation message, or auto-responder, automatically replies to anyone that sends you email while you are away.

You can easily setup an auto-responder using Webmail. To access webmail, go to http://mail. Covenant ISP.net or http://my. Covenant ISP.net, and enter your email username and password to log in. Once you are logged into webmail, click the Options link at the top of the screen, then choose Vacation Message/Auto-Response Setup. Enter the message you would like people to receive when they email you. You can include any text that you want into your auto-response message. An example vacation message might be:

This is an automatic email reply. I will be on vacation starting July 2, 2002, and returning on July 10, 2002. I will not have access to my email until I return.

After your message is entered, click the Change Message button to start the autoresponder. Now any time a someone sends you an email, they will receive a response sent back to them with the subject "Away from Email."

Don't forget to turn off your vacation message when you come home!

Go back to Webmail, click the Options link, and choose Vacation Message/Auto-Response Setup again. Now just click the Delete Message button to turn off the autoresponder.

Help us help you! If you contact Covenant ISP support for assistance please write down any error messages you get when trying to connect to the Internet. Include the name and version of your operating system and the exact text of all error messages. If this information is included in an online case submission or provided to a support representative, it will greatly speed up the troubleshooting process.

Please be aware that some troubleshooting may require uninstallation and reinstallation of operating system files. To ensure that this type of troubleshooting can be accomplished if required, please be sure that you have to have original Operating System CD or Operating system source files on disk on hand.
